Wedding information
The local Municipality has the right to officiate at civil weddings. People wishing to get married in Cyprus need to provide the following documents:
1. Passports
2. Declaration of being single
3. Divorce certificate (if you are divorced)
4. Death certificate (if previous spouse is deceased)
5. Certificate of Thalassaemia (required only for Cypriots)

Civil weddings between foreigners or foreigners and Cypriots can be done in one of two ways:
a) With an advance notice (cost CYP 75): The marriage must take place after 15 days from the time of notification but no later than three months after that date. In this case, the couple will need to spend at least 20 days on the island.

b) With a special license (cost CYP 165): By directly applying to the mayor of the chosen Municipality a special license can be obtained that will allow a couple to marry sooner. Due to special methods employed in the Municipality of Ayios Tychonas, a marriage with a special license can take place 2 days after application.

Teenagers between 16 and 18 years of age will be allowed to marry only if they have written consent* from their parent or guardian. In the even that there are no legal guardians then the consent of the Supreme Court of Limassol is required.

*Note: Written consent must be made in the presence of the Mayor.
